Job Description

Responsible for coordinating services for patients and providers within Kootenai Clinic, using a top-rated, customer service focus at all times. Comply with all Kootenai Health confidentiality and HIPAA standards. Duties may include, but not limited to, coordinating appointment scheduling for providers and self-referrals both internal and external from KH, greeting patients as they enter the clinic, assisting patients in completion of required paperwork and compliance forms, maintaining patient demographics and insurance information in appropriate scheduling systems, scheduling procedures, filing information in patient medical records, interacting with area physicians clinics and agencies as needed. Communicates basic financial policies pertaining to insurance coverage, collecting copays, deductibles, and self-pay payments, obtaining pre-authorizations as required and processing charges. May also coordinate and perform all aspects of the patient referral process including collaboration with the KC authorization team for approval, scheduling appointments with provider/entity once approval has been received, and communicating details to patients, and monitors referrals via EHR report to identify pending and incomplete referrals. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent required.

2. Experience working in medical office preferred

3. Working knowledge of medical terminology and electronic health record systems preferred.

Essential Job Functions (Physical Requirements):
Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
No or very limited physical effort required.
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
Communicate with patients, physicians, families and co-workers in person and on telephone.
Work with equipment and manipulate equipment settings, computer keyboard, etc.

Work Environment:

Kootenai Clinic locations have operation hours based on locations and patient needs therefore availability to work all shifts, weekends and holidays as appropriate for location will be expected and required.

Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment.
