As a member of the nursing leadership team, the Director of Inpatient Nursing provides leadership and oversight to department managers and their staff for assigned areas of responsibility. Identifies customer groups, assesses their needs, and coordinates the operations to successfully achieve organizational objectives. May serve as the CNO in the absence of the Chief Nursing Officer. Will serve on the Baker City Senior Leadership team and take Administrator on-call responsibilities.


Must be licensed in the State of Oregon as a Registered Nurse as defined by the Oregon State Board of Nursing.
Bachelor's degree required. Masters Degree in Nursing or Health Administration or Business preferred.
Five (5) years of experience with demonstrated nursing leadership skills such as team building, performance improvement, communications, systems thinking, negotiation, multitasking, leading interdisciplinary teams and financial and program management required.
Demonstrated skills in leadership, facilitation, conflict resolution, project management, problem solving, data and project analysis and presentation abilities.
Exceptional interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with boards, senior management team, physicians, departmental management and staff.
Experience leading change efforts in complex health care setting preferred.
Excellent communication and team building skills.
Intermediate computer skills with an emphasis on Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint.

Successfully executes the established plans and the services of the functional areas of responsibility through analysis, measurement and monitoring, reporting, and adjusting the direction, allocation and utilization of available resources.
Oversees day to day operations of assigned areas of responsibility.
Facilitates and manages team performance to the established performance levels; ensures the provision of high quality, cost-effective patient care and performance management of the functional areas of responsibility.
Provides leadership, coaching, and direction to the managers & coordinators of the assigned areas of responsibility in their daily management of operations.
Develops assigned aspects of the organizational strategic and tactical plans in concert with established planning processes.
Collaborates with other hospital leaders in improving quality and efficiency of hospital services.
Ensures that staffing policies and practices provide for continuous and timely availability of nursing services.
Ensures that nursing standards of patient care and standards of nursing practice are consistent with nursing research findings and nationally recognized professional standards.
Facilitates the development of processes to ensure adequate levels of beds, equipment, supplies, medication, etc. are available to inpatient nursing units.
Provides leadership to nurse managers to ensure staffing is appropriate for budget, patient safety, and quality of care objectives.
Champions strategic and operational objectives for patient safety and quality, nursing satisfaction, and nursing care model in the inpatient nursing units.
