1. A registered Professional Nurse duly licensed to practice and registered under the laws of the State of Idaho.
2. Adherence to the ethical and personal standards as described in the Code for Professional Nurses.
3. Able to perform the functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
4. Cooperates with medical staff, DNS, administrator, and all nursing personnel to carry hospital policies and ensure the best possible care to all patients/residents.
5. Have thorough knowledge of policies and procedures.
6. Is responsible to shift supervisor and/or Director of Nursing Services (DNS).

The Registered Nurse with an OB Specialty position provides nursing care in labor and delivery at the direction of a Licensed Physician under guidelines established by the employing agency. The OB Specialty nurse shall be personally accountable and responsible for all actions taken in carrying out nursing activities.
At Bear Lake Memorial Hospital, the Registered Professional Nurse may perform the following functions generally recognized for a Registered Professional Nurse prepared at the standard level of education.
The Registered Nurse must inform the Director of Nursing of any action taken regarding her area of supervision. These areas include making changes in schedules, suggesting appropriate discipline, written grievances and resident or employee injuries/incidents.
The OB Specialty Registered Nurse duties include the receiving and giving written and oral reports to the off going or on-coming charge nurse and patient care personnel. She/he is responsible in communicating with physicians, residents, families, visitors, and professional staff members.
The OB Specialty Registered Nurse makes assignments based on the needs of patients and the capabilities of patient care personnel.
The OB Specialty Registered Nurse is responsible for administering medications and treatments prescribed by legally authorized persons within their scope of practice and training.
The OB Specialty Registered Nurse will make rounds to assess the condition and needs of patients
She/he will accompany physicians and other personnel as necessary. She/he will also evaluate the physical condition of the OB unit.
During the shift the OB/RN directs and may perform patient care as directed. The OB/RN is responsible for the leadership skills which will include assuring that patients are available for treatment, medications, etc.
Records and patient charts are kept accordant to facility policy.
The OB/RN is responsible to assure that regulations and employers policies are enforced and followed. Job satisfaction is promoted and grievances are reported and acted upon. Good morale is promoted by the OB/RN. The OB/RN will be responsible for correcting unprofessional and inappropriate behavior by staff towards residents or fellow personnel. As stated above, the RN may be a manager and/or patient care giver and is expected to function appropriately in each position.
OB/RNs assigned to specific patient care will not have the responsibility of the charge nurse.
Consistently work cooperatively with patients, residents, residents representatives, facility staff, physicians, consultants and ancillary service providers.
Consistently supports compliance and the principles of responsibility by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (as applicable), and Bear Lake Memorial Hospitals policies and procedures.
Willing and able to be flexible and to work various rotating shifts/hours/days between SNF and the acute care.
Requires excellent service and communication skills when interacting with employees, members and visitors.
Must be kind and compassionate.
Current ACLS and NRP certifications.
Adherence to the Code for Professional Nurses.
Must have strict adherence to confidentiality requirements.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds with assistance or appropriate mechanical lifts.
May require excessive time standing and walking.
Will require time sitting, writing/documenting.
Will require bending, twisting, stooping and lifting.
Must be able to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Must have good organizational skills.
Must have the ability to contribute to the culture/mission of the most caring hospital
